The Moschella Family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support via text, calls, and social media. We're starting this website to create a centralized place to share information on Joey's condition and provide up-to-date info on how each of us can help support Kelsey, Chris, and baby Joey. Below is Kelsey's first social media post sharing Joey's diagnosis:
After a long weekend/early week of pediatrician appointments and an ER visit, our Joey was admitted to Georgetown on Wednesday morning for acute liver failure. It is a shocking and devastating diagnosis, and one we certainly never would have expected a week ago.
The doctors are running several tests to try to pinpoint the cause, and prep for a potential liver transplant. We are praying it doesn’t come to that, and he’ll be able to heal this himself.
He’s exhausted from pokes and prods, lack of sleep, sedation, scans, and a few procedures already. The amount of work that has gone into just being able to draw his blood frequently enough for the continuous testing is mind blowing. But we can still see our tenacious boy through it all.
We are so appreciative and thankful to everyone who has reached out, sent their thoughts and prayers, and offers of help/support/food/errands/etc. We feel the love from you all and are making sure Joey feels it too.
Going forward, we'll start using this page to share updates and give Kelsey and Chris the space they need to be there for Joey as much as possible.
